There are plenty of BigVu reviews online written by people who signed up for a free trial, tested the app for a few days, and summarized the feature list.
This isn’t one of those reviews.
I’ve been a paying BigVu customer since late 2020 and have renewed my subscription every year since. During that time, I’ve used it to create content for my own business and for client projects.
Here’s what my experience looks like:

One of the reasons I’ve stuck with BigVu for more than six years is that it fits seamlessly into my content creation workflow.
I don’t have a complicated studio setup or a production crew. In fact, I prefer to keep my equipment as simple and portable as possible.
Here’s what my typical recording process looks like:
- I capture ideas using voice notes while I’m driving, walking, or out for a run.
- I organize those ideas into a script with the help of ChatGPT, using AI as an editing partner rather than a replacement for my own thinking.
- I copy the finished script into BigVu.
- I adjust the teleprompter settings to 270 words per minute with a 38-point font size.
- I mount my iPhone 17 Pro Max on an inexpensive Amazon tripod and connect my Rode SmartLav microphone.
- I hit record and start talking.
That’s it.
One of my favorite things about BigVu is that the scrolling text sits right next to the camera lens. That small design decision makes a huge difference because I can read my script while still maintaining eye contact with the viewer.
I also appreciate that I can quickly switch between vertical and horizontal recording, depending on whether I’m creating a YouTube video, a Short, or content for social media.
The result is a recording setup that’s lightweight, portable, and fast.
I’ve actually purchased a professional camera and teleprompter system over the years because I thought it would be the next logical upgrade.
Today, it’s sitting in a cabinet in my office…. untouched.

What I Like About BigVu
After using BigVu for more than six years, there are a handful of reasons I continue renewing my subscription each year.
It Saves Me a Ton of Time
This is the biggest benefit by far.
Before I started using BigVu, recording a 10-minute video could easily take an hour or more. I’d lose my place, forget an important point, or start over because I wasn’t happy with how I said something.
Now, that same video usually takes me about 15 to 20 minutes to record.
When you’re publishing videos every week, those time savings really add up.
It Helped Me Feel More Confident on Camera
When I first started creating videos, I spent too much mental energy trying to remember what I wanted to say.
Using a teleprompter allowed me to focus on delivering my message instead of memorizing it.
Over time, that helped me become much more comfortable speaking on camera.
It Keeps My Videos Focused
I know some creators prefer recording without a script because it feels more natural.

Personally, I don’t use those features.

Once the script is finished, BigVu helps me deliver it naturally while looking directly into the camera.
In a world where it’s becoming harder to tell what’s created by a real person and what’s generated by AI, I still believe authenticity matters.
I want people watching my videos to hear my voice, my experiences, and my opinions.
BigVu helps me communicate those ideas more effectively. It doesn’t replace them.
What I Don’t Like About BigVu
If this review sounds overwhelmingly positive so far, it’s because BigVu has genuinely become part of my weekly workflow.
That said, it isn’t perfect.
In fact, there are a few frustrations that have stuck around for years.
The Occasional Glitches Can Be Annoying
Most of the time, BigVu works exactly as I expect.
But every few months, I’ll run into an issue that interrupts my recording session.
I’ve experienced things like:
- The teleprompter jumping to another part of the script while I’m recording.
- The scrolling text freezing unexpectedly.
- The app not rotating correctly when switching between vertical and horizontal mode.
- The text size not updating correctly until I reset it a second time.
- A slight delay between my movements and the video preview on screen.
None of these issues happen often enough to make me cancel my subscription, but they happen just often enough that I notice them.
Usually, closing and reopening the app solves the problem, but I’d love to see BigVu improve its overall reliability.
Keeping Too Many Videos Can Slow Things Down
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that the app seems to perform better when I regularly delete old recordings.
When I’ve let dozens of completed videos pile up inside the app, I’ve noticed it becomes less responsive.
That may be more of a user issue than a software issue, but it’s something worth keeping in mind if you plan to use BigVu regularly.
I’m Paying for Features I Don’t Use
I’m currently subscribed to the AI Pro plan, but if I’m being honest, I probably don’t need it.
I mainly use BigVu for three things:
- Writing or importing my script
- Recording with the teleprompter
- Delivering my videos while maintaining eye contact with the camera
I don’t use the AI script writer, AI avatars, caption generation, video editing, cloud storage, social scheduling, or most of the other premium features.
In fact, writing this review has reminded me that I should probably compare my current plan to the Starter plan and see if I can save a little money.
I Wish BigVu Focused More on Stability Than New AI Features
BigVu continues to add new AI capabilities, which I’m sure some creators will appreciate.
Personally, I’d rather see the company spend more time improving the core recording experience.
I’d happily trade a few AI features for an app that feels a little more polished and dependable.
For me, BigVu’s biggest strength has always been helping real people communicate more effectively on camera.
That’s the experience I’d love to see them continue improving.
BigVu Pricing and Value
At the time of writing, I’m subscribed to the AI Pro plan, which costs $139.99 per year.
I’ve been a paying customer since late 2020, and over the years I’ve subscribed to different plans as BigVu has changed its pricing and features.
While the cost has increased since I first signed up, I still think BigVu offers excellent value for creators who regularly record videos.
For me, the return on investment isn’t about the number of features included in my subscription.
It’s about the amount of time I save.
Before BigVu, recording a single video could easily take an hour or more.
Today, that same video usually takes me about 15 to 20 minutes.
Multiply those time savings across hundreds of videos over six years, and the subscription has easily paid for itself many times over.
That said, this review has also made me realize I’m probably paying for features I don’t actually use.
Most of my workflow revolves around three simple functions:
- Importing my script
- Recording with the teleprompter
- Maintaining eye contact while speaking to the camera
I don’t currently use BigVu’s AI script writing, AI avatars, social scheduling, cloud storage, or many of the additional premium features.
Because of that, I’ll likely compare the AI Pro and Starter plans before my next renewal to see if I can save a little money.
If you’re considering BigVu, I’d recommend starting with the plan that includes the teleprompter features you need today. You can always upgrade later if your workflow changes.
For me, the value has never been about having every feature.
It’s about removing friction so I can consistently create videos that help grow my business.

After using BigVu for more than six years, I don’t think it’s the right tool for everyone.

- Feel more confident speaking when you have notes in front of you.
- Want to spend less time recording and more time creating.

BigVu May Not Be the Best Choice If You…
- Expect every app to work flawlessly 100% of the time.
- Prefer speaking completely off the cuff without a script.
- Already have a professional camera and teleprompter workflow that you’re happy with.
- Want AI to generate your videos or create AI avatars for you.
Personally, I enjoy working on my own scripts because it forces me to think through what I want to say before I ever hit the record button.
BigVu doesn’t replace that creative process.
Instead, it helps me deliver those ideas more clearly and more efficiently.
