Just over a year ago, on July 29th, 2019, we published our first daily feature.
When we started, we wanted to fill a space left by past personal finance content curation websites, but also look to create something new, bigger and better than what was there before.
Since July 29th, we’ve published over 260 daily features (that’s 780 articles!), helped many new and existing personal finance blogs gain exposure and receive traffic, and worked to give the personal finance community a central location for all things personal finance blogs.
In this post, we want to look back on the first year of Personal Finance Blogs, share with you some statistics of this website, and share with you what you can expect going forward.
But before all of this, let’s look back on the 1st year of Personal Finance Blogs.
Looking Back on the 1st Year of Personal Finance Blogs
The idea of Personal Finance Blogs started on a summer night back at the beginning of July 2019.
For a large part of the 2010s, there was a personal finance curation website which was one of the biggest personal finance websites out there. Each day, the website would feature 3 amazing posts from around the personal finance blogosphere, and as traffic to the site grew, so did the number of clicks to those daily featured blogs.
(Unfortunately, this site sold in 2019, and now is essentially a dead website.)
What made this old website special was the articles on a daily basis were unique and helpful, but also, on the blogger side, the amount of traffic you could potentially get from being featured was huge.
As each of our team members at PFB experienced, the traffic from a daily feature was server shaking (some blogs literally had to switch hosts after getting featured on this old curation website), and lead to record traffic numbers for many bloggers.
Without this website, we wanted to see if we could create something similar by featuring great content for our readers, and provide a unique location for everything personal finance.
Also, we wanted to give bloggers an opportunity to feel that same special feeling of being featured unexpectedly, and give bloggers another way to gain traffic and exposure to grow and feel special in the personal finance community.
When we started brainstorming and forming the idea for Personal Finance Blogs, while we wanted to focus on content curation, but we also looked to come up with other ways to feature and share with our users everything from the personal finance world.
With this in mind, over the past year, we developed:
-
-
These feeds pages show the most recent personal finance articles from all over
-
-
-
This directory lists over 800 personal finance blogs
-
-
-
These interviews shine a light to amazing blogs each week – we’ve featured 21 different amazing blogs through this interview series and can’t wait to continue in the future
-
Each of these have allowed us to create a one stop shop for everything personal finance and personal finance blogs, and we are excited to keep adding to the website to keep making it better.
Click Statistics from 1 Year of Personal Finance Content Curation
As mentioned above, one of our goals for Personal Finance Blogs is to help personal finance bloggers gain exposure and experience the magical effect of hundreds of people reading their blog at once.
During the first year of Personal Finance Blogs, through our daily curation, we featured 483 different personal finance blogs.
One of the thoughts for content curation at Personal Finance Blogs is we look for the best personal finance content in all areas of the internet. We don’t care how big the website is or who the author is – if the content is unique, has a point, is well written, and is enjoyable to read, it has a chance to be featured.
Featuring 483 different personal finance blogs shows us that we have met this goal and we are excited to keep seeing this number grow as we find new blogs to feature.
Looking at our click statistics, there were 12,177 times people clicked a link and visited 1 of these 483 blogs from our home page, and 20,507 times people clicked a link and visited 1 of these 483 blogs from our daily emails.
In addition to these daily features, 20,278 times someone clicked a link and visited these 1 of these 483 blogs through the feeds pages and weekly interviews.
Adding everything up, we have sent over 50,000 visitors to these different blogs.
These numbers are amazing and we are very happy to have been able to help others gain exposure to their websites.
With that being said though, we are just getting started and are ready to make 2nd year even more special!
The Future of Personal Finance Blogs
In the 2nd year of Personal Finance Blogs, the main idea is to be consistent with our work and to continue to promote all of the personal finance blogs in the personal finance community.
As mentioned above, sending over 50,000 people to different blogs in the 1st year is a tremendous accomplishment, but we don’t want to stop there.
In the 2nd year, we want to keep growing, keep expanding the directory and number of blogs we feature, and continue to make Personal Finance Blogs one of the best websites out there for all things personal finance.
To do this, we plan on:
-
continuing to be consistent with our daily curation, weekly interviews, and social media presence
-
working to expand our directory and number of people featured on PFB
-
reaching out to other blogs and media outlets to get the word of Personal Finance out to more people
While we have plans to grow PFB to help more people, we appreciate any help we can get.
One of the easiest ways to help us grow is if you like Personal Finance Blogs, tell your friends about PFB and share our website with them!
If you already have shared PFB with your friends, thank you!
If you are a blogger, there are a number of easy ways you can help us increase our reach in the personal finance space.
One simple way is to link to us. If you have been featured, you are welcome to download a badge from below and put it on your website.
If badges aren’t your thing, then adding a link in a relevant post on your site also is fantastic. For example, if you have a post about learning about personal finance, providing a link to Personal Finance Blogs as a resource for learning about personal finance would be amazing and we’d very much appreciate it.
For badges, you can copy the code below the image you like and add it to your sidebar widget or anywhere you want on your website.
